Historic Parkerson Avenue Redevelopment Project Ground Breaking - 6/19/2008 -

After over a decade of planning, the City of Crowley celebrated the official groundbreaking for the Historic Parkerson Avenue Redevelopment Project.  Citizens and elected officials gathered to commemorate this plan to redo the streets and sidewalks in the historic downtown area.  Downtown will be transformed by the new sidewalks featuring brick pavers, landscaping and handicap accessible ramps.  The grassy median will also be restored, and stamped concrete pavers will highlight each intersection.  The finished product will surely bring new business development downtown, while encouraging pedestrian traffic from both citizens and visitors.

Constuction has already begun with initial sewerage work.  The sidewalks will be restored next, and then the streets.  It will take 300 work days to complete the project, so it will likely take a little more than a year.  During construction, every effort will be made to maintain access to the businesses in the downtown area.  Please continue to support our existing mainstreet businesses during this time.

For those who have questions or concerns about the project, weekly meetings are held every Wednesday, at 9am, at City Hall.
