Acadia Parish Sheriff: K.P. Gibson

After 25 years of law enforcement service, Sheriff Gibson was ready to serve the people of his parish in a larger way. His career began back in 1991, when K.P. Gibson began working for the Lafayette Police Department.   During that time, Gibson served as a field training officer in the FTO program as well as an investigator in the Criminal Investigations Division. He also spent his time at the LPD as a hostage investigator within the department’s SWAT team. In 2002, Gibson was elected as the City of Crowley Chief of Police.  During his terms he succeeded in stride, making improvements throughout the department. Some of these improvements entailed multiple technology advancements and the implementation of a fleet management program, as well as the creation of the city’s the first narcotics unit. “During my administration in Crowley, we made many improvements which I feel that the citizens wanted” says Gibson, and he did just that over the last 13 years. He was able to clench a 60% pay increase for his department in Crowley—giving his officers a steady income to support their families.  As he saw his term coming to an end, he reached for a higher goal and achieved it. As newly elected Sheriff of Acadia Parish, Gibson has the same plans of improvement and advancement as he did in Crowley. “I enjoy taking a department and making improvements to support the employees which will provide a better service to the public”. Gibson’s focus on the war on narcotics was and still is a main focus for his new parish wide department. Accountability and a proactive approach to law enforcement is his number one go for his Sheriff’s Department. “Please know that this is your Sheriff’s Office. Your input is important to the success of our department” Gibson insures. The Crowley Chamber would like to recognize Sheriff Gibson for his commitment of making not only Crowley safer, but Acadia Parish!

Tokyo Japan

As the worldview of cultural foods begins to expand, Crowley is there ready to enlarge our restaurant base. Coming up on a year, Tokyo Japan’s doors have been open to serve all of the sushi and hibachi goers out there.  Being a Cajun culture with a strong love for seafood, and deep roots in the agricultural industry, this restaurant was a sure fit for our crawfish and rice lovin’ natives! Open seven days a week, Tokyo Japan offers a wide array of authentic Japanese food such as sashimi, hibachi chicken fried rice and a fresh sushi bar! From the moment you walk in, to the second you step food out the door, you are treated with excellent customer service, giving you the best experience possible! Tokyo Japan has both lunch and dinner specials as well as a full sushi bar to end your cravings at all times of the day! With a second location in Abbeville, they are always ready to greet you with a smile! The Crowley Chamber is happy to recognize Tokyo Japan for carrying on their cultural food to Cajun Country and for their second to none customer service. Stop by their Parkerson location and take a seat at the sushi bar!
