Leadership EXCEL
Leadership EXCEL is an annual leadership development program of the Crowley Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Jeff Davis Business Alliance. The program is designed to prepare emerging leaders to meet the future needs of our community and strives to develop informed, resourceful, civic-minded leaders committed to making our community a better place to live and work.Through the exchange of viewpoints and experiences, participants are exposed to the challenges, opportunities, and vital issues affecting Acadia and Jefferson Davis Parishes.
As we embark on a new year, the Leadership EXCEL Advisory Board is excited to share an updated version of this long-standing tradition. While the end goal of cultivating community leaders remains the same, the program will also incorporate additional training to prepare our leaders while enhancing personal and professional development. A more interactive structure will empower graduates to turn their experiences into positive change.
To better facilitate some of these changes, class sizes will be decreased to provide a more focused setting for the exchange of ideas, and the application process will become more competitive. Participants in the program will continue to experience the SIMSOC exercise along with other opportunities to learn more about our parishes and our regions. The eleven month program will now be conducted throughout a calendar year, beginning with a one-day orientation in January and culminating in a wrap-up session and graduation in November.
The Leadership EXCEL program, which is a joint program of the Crowley Chamber of Commerce and the Jeff Davis Business Alliance, was founded in 1994. The program is currently in its 17th year. Leadership EXCEL is a community-wide leadership program that develops existing and emerging leaders in Acadia and Jeff Davis parish regions. The program is designed to educate participants about major community issues and alternate approaches to community problems.
